A Portuguese Home in the Heart of Setúbal
A cosy place for slow summer mornings, beach afternoons and unforgettable holidays.
The story
A quiet, traditional home
Tucked into one of Setúbal's quietest streets, this four-bedroom apartment had been in the same family for generations. We renovated it slowly, carefully — keeping the old wooden shutters, the teak parquet wood floors, the high ceilings — and added only what makes a home feel easy to live in. It is not a hotel. It is your home away from home, even if just for a little while.
Restored, not redesigned Restored, not redesigned. Original pine shutters were stripped and re-oiled by hand by our host, Mariana. The azulejo tiles in the kitchen are the ones the original owner chose in 1982. The bathrooms were all redesigned to feel modern and adapt easily to the busy summer days. Everything else we left exactly as it was.
